National STEM Day: Zoom with Zoologist Katrina Poremba (can also be watched in our community room) In-Person

Join us as we welcome Zoologist/Marine Biologist Katrina Poremba as she shares her scientific diving in the  Amazon. Register to receive the Zoom link or join us in the community room to experience on the big screen. This program is best suited for grades 4+ and adults. 

 

Katrina is currently a Fishery Policy Analyst for the International Fisheries Division of NOAA Fisheries out of Honolulu, HI. She has always had a passion for the ocean and has dedicated the last 16 years to being involved in marine conservation. She received a Bachelors in Marine Biology, a Bachelors in Zoology, a Minor in Leadership Diving, and a Minor in Scientific Diving from Humboldt State University. She has conducted various scientific diving surveys for the Reef Check Foundation all over the California coast line from 2010-2012. Katrina then received her NOAA Corps Officer Commission and worked aboard NOAA Ship Rainier as the Dive Master up in Alaska from 2013-2016, She then received a Masters in Conservation Biology from the University of Nebraska, with her thesis being on the international fish trade among Amazonian ornamental fish, through Oregon State University. Although the field work part of her career path has come to an end for the time being, she always enjoys sharing her experiences and likes to stay active outside along the Hawaiian shoreline.
