An Evening with Poet David Mills In-Person
April is National Poetry Month! Join the MTPL community for a LIVE visit with David Mills, author of the bestselling poetry collection Boneyarn. Boneyarn gives voice to those buried in the Manhattan's Negro Burial Ground, America’s oldest and largest slave cemetery. His work eulogizes 15,000 unnamed slaves and free blacks, Native Americans, and indentured whites. "There is so much to admire in Boneyarn: the poet’s grasp of history, Mills’ ability to transform into language this historical milieu, and the skillful juxtaposition of various levels of diction that leaves the reader breathless," writes Jonathan Harrington of Beltway Poetry Quarterly in his review.
