History of the Olympics - via Zoom!

History of the Olympics - via Zoom! Online

How did the ancient Greeks celebrate their athletic achievements every four years at Olympia?  Were these contests different from the modern Olympics we enjoy today?  Join historian Jeanne Vloyanetes for an overview of the ancient Olympics, a Greek cultural tradition for over a thousand years. Please register to receive the Zoom link.

Speaker Biography:  Jeanne Vloyanetes joined the faculty at Brookdale Community College in 1983.  After serving as a reference services librarian for many years, she became a full-time member of Brookdale’s history department in 2016.  Jeanne teaches courses in both world civilizations and American history.  Jeanne holds a Bachelor's degree in Classics from Douglass College, a Master's degree in library service from Rutgers University, and a Master's degree in history from Monmouth University.  Her history interests are varied for the generalist needs at Brookdale Community College.
