"Hello Girls" World War I - virtual lecture In-Person
Melissa Ziobro from Monmouth University will be presenting a program on how the US Army Signal Corps employed women as telephone switchboard operators during WWI. The pioneering “Hello Girls” worked long hours to ensure battlefield communications, sometimes at great personal risk. After the war, they fought for veteran status and are being considered for a Congressional Gold Medal today. The head Hello Girl, Grace Banker, was from NJ!
