Deep Cut Orchid Society, in conjunction with the Friends of the Middletown Township Public Library, is pleased to present Demystifying Orchids, a 3-part series about the world’s most popular house plant. (These three classes can be taken ala carte or bundled together.)

Do you love plants? Did you know that orchids are actually easy to grow, and you don’t need a greenhouse to grow them? Join us on this 3-part journey and further your appreciation for these gifts from nature. Learn all about orchids, which ones to buy, how to care for them and rebloom them.

Course Description:

Continue your orchid journey with our second class in the series, focused on the essentials of orchid care for beginners. This course is crafted to provide a deeper understanding of how to nurture and maintain these exquisite plants. Key learning objectives include:

Understanding Basic Orchid Requirements: Gain a comprehensive overview of what orchids need to thrive, from soil composition to general care.

Light and Temperature Management: Explore the importance of light and temperature in orchid growth, and how to create the ideal environment in your home or garden.

Mastering Watering: Learn the techniques of proper watering. (No, it does NOT include ice cubes!)

Humidity and Airflow: Understand the role of airflow and humidity in orchid health and how to provide the right conditions for your plants.

The Art of Repotting: Acquire skills in safely repotting orchids, recognizing when it's necessary, and choosing the right materials.

Encouraging Orchids to Rebloom: Explore methods to stimulate your orchids to flower again, ensuring a cycle of beauty in your orchid care journey.

This course is designed for those who have a basic understanding of orchids or have completed our introductory course. Students will develop the skills to successfully grow and maintain healthy orchids. Whether you are an orchid enthusiast or a budding horticulturist, this class will equip you with the knowledge to enjoy the rewarding experience of orchid care.

This is a Friends of MTPL Fundraiser - all proceeds will go towards funding library programs and services.

Classes are $10/each or $25 for all three. Cash or Check accepted at the door, night of the event. PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE.
