NEA Program: Mobile Ed: SkyDome at Croydon Hall Gym

NEA Program: Mobile Ed: SkyDome at Croydon Hall Gym In-Person

NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.

In recognition of the almost total eclipse on April 8, we'll be checking out the sky in the Mobile Ed Sky Dome Planetarium. Each person who attends the program will receive a pair of eclipse glasses in anticipation of the April 8 eclipse. While there will be multiple sessiosn throughout the day, registration is required for ALL attendees so we can limit the number of people in the sky dome to allow for comfort.

You'll be taken on a 45-minute tour of the solar system from the comfort and security of the library's  community room. Participants will enter the dome and be introduced to a "star filled" sky. Our navigator will use a digital planetarium projector and a laser pointer to guide you through the stars of the Northern Hemisphere exactly as they appear on the day of the presentation.

You will learn how to identify every planet in our solar system in dramatic "flights" towards each world. Then, you'll be introduced to Greek mythological characters and see how these heroes of the past can be found in the stars. You'll witness the night sky in different seasons and from different global perspectives.

While there will be multiple sessions throughout the day, registration is required for ALL attendees so we can limit the number of people in the sky dome to allow for comfort.
