Piracy to Prohibition - ZOOM lecture In-Person

Between the Raritan Bay and Atlantic Ocean Monmouth County has over 50 miles of shoreline. Throughout history, tidal streams and coastal inlets have provided communities like Middletown with a wide variety of marine resources, but they also provided inland access to pirates, privateers, and rum runners. In Piracy to Prohibition local historian Kristen Hohn discusses the illicit side of our coastal history, separating fact from fiction and providing historical sources for some well-known local legends.
