Genealogy Club - Woodland Cemetery, Newark In-Person

This month's topic: Warren Vincentz will discuss efforts to restore Woodland Cemetery (South 10th Street, Newark). Founded in 1855 as the West Newark Cemetery, it was known as the German Cemetery since most of the earliest burials were of ethnic Germans. It encompasses 36.5 acres with 85,000 burials and is managed by a non-compensated volunteer board who have family members buried there.

Join our Genealogy Club where we discuss the strategies and techniques of researching your family tree, share tips on overcoming brick walls, lend support, and give encouragement. We'll focus on a particular topic for the first half and then open it up for discussion and questions. Beginners are encouraged to attend along with experienced genealogists. Bring your laptops and any resource material you may want to share. Co-sponsored by the Monmouth County Genealogy Society. Registration encouraged but not required - in-person in the library's History Room.
